Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB), a leading property investment company in Malaysia, sought to enhance their online presence and improve their website's effectiveness. To achieve these goals, PHB engaged XIMNET's expertise to take a deeper look at how to communicate its brand aspirations better through their website redesign exercise.

Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB)

Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB) is a prominent state-owned property investment company in Malaysia. Established in 2006, PHB has been instrumental in shaping the country's real estate landscape. Its mission to promote Bumiputera ownership of commercial properties has led to significant contributions to the nation's economic development.

challenges
Several challenges were faced with the existing website, which was overburdened with excessive content, creating a cluttered and confusing user experience. The content structure lacked a clear hierarchy, making it difficult for visitors to navigate and find relevant information. Additionally, the website suffered from numerous broken links, hindering user experience and frustrating visitors. While the old navigation was simple, its outdated appearance and frequent breakdowns detracted from the overall user experience.

Moreover, the client's inability to update the website independently and their lack of access to Google Analytics limited their ability to maintain fresh content, track website performance, and make data-driven decisions. These challenges collectively impeded PHB's ability to effectively communicate their brand and achieve their online objectives.
our approach

To address the challenges faced by Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad (PHB), our team implemented a strategic approach focused on enhancing user experience and improving website performance. We restructured the content into more digestible segments, incorporated visually appealing images and videos, optimised the content hierarchy, and crafted an informative and engaging design.

By prioritising user needs and preferences throughout the project, we ensured that the website was not only visually appealing but also functional and easy to navigate.

A good website organises content clearly, uses simple labels, ensures consistency, and prioritises user needs.
The Work

Research
To gain a comprehensive understanding of PHB's specific needs and industry trends, we conducted in-depth research. This involved analysing PHB's existing website, benchmarking industry competitors, and conducting user research to gather insights into the preferences and behaviors of their target audience. Ensuring that PHB's website would stand out from the competition.

By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of other websites, we were able to identify key areas for improvement and develop a tailored design strategy that would meet PHB's unique needs and objectives.
site architecture

To enhance the user experience, we restructured the website’s content hierarchy, ensuring that essential information is well-organised and easily accessible. By resolving broken links and streamlining navigation, we simplified the process for users to locate the content they need.

Taking a user-centric approach, we prioritised key sections and refined the website layout to guide visitors effortlessly to relevant information. This reorganisation improved usability while fostering better engagement through a smoother, more intuitive browsing experience.

A workshop was held with the project owners and key stakeholders to redefine website's navigation and content structure. The key goal is to ensure user is able to look for desired content with minimal effort during their short time on the website. The key concepts are:

  • Less is more: To feature fewer sub-menu items to make navigation simpler
  • Relevance: Organised grouping and content hierarchy
  • Comprehension: Easy to understand page names and titles

Design Concept

Our design concept for PHB's website prioritised a clean and minimalist aesthetic, combined with visually striking elements. Large, high-quality visuals were prominently featured throughout the website, immediately capturing visitors' attention and setting the theme. A minimal colour palette was employed to maintain a consistent and professional look, ensuring that the content remained the primary focus.

The website featured a clean and uncluttered layout, providing a seamless user experience. Prominent images were strategically placed to guide visitors through the content and reinforce the brand's message. To further enhance the visual appeal and reinforce PHB's brand identity, we incorporated rhombus elements – a distinctive feature of the company's logo – into the button design. This subtle touch added a cohesive element to the overall aesthetic.

tender automation

To optimise PHB's tender processes, the new website allows frequent and automatic updates of tender information, ensuring that the latest tenders are always accessible. By automating this process, we reduced manual effort and ensured timely dissemination of information, ultimately enhancing efficiency and transparency.

The Results

The redesign of Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad's (PHB) website resulted in a significant improvement in user experience, website performance, and brand communication. By restructuring the content, incorporating visuals, optimising the hierarchy, and crafting an engaging design, we created a website that effectively met PHB's objectives. The redesigned website provided a more intuitive and user-friendly experience, improved loading times, enhanced brand communication, and increased user engagement. Additionally, the implementation of a user-friendly content management system empowered PHB to easily update and maintain their website content, while the automated tender update system streamlined their operations.

Overall, the redesign was a resounding success, delivering tangible benefits in terms of user experience, brand communication, and operational efficiency.
